Zenoss 4.2.5 Released
We've just released the latest Zenoss and ZenPacks for 4.2.5.
Features
- Zenoss 4.2.5 runs on our bulletproof Zope stack, which we reguarly update, and has important security patches
- All versions of Zenoss we ship (3.x, 4.x) run on the same underlying Zope stack, meaning a straightforward migration process
- Our Zenoss 4.2.5 runs on Python 2.6, and we've worked really hard to use all the Red Hat/vendor-supplied packages possible so that your licensing support covers most of your critical Zenoss infrastructure
- We use the Chameleon template rendering engine, giving you 20-50% faster Zentinel/portal performance
- Our Zenoss 4.2.5 uses our standardised Monit
for sophisticated startup/stop services dependency management, and auto restart/watchdogging.
- Our Zenoss 4.2.5/Chef infrastructure is completely granular to support large clustered, scaled, redundant deployments
- Our Zenoss 4.2.5 runs with the latest Celery 3.x, giving better performance for jobber
- Our Zenoss 4.2.5/ZEP runs on OpenJDK, with a smaller memory footprint than possible with Sun/Oracle/Hotspot.
Our Zenoss 4.2.5 is also available for other virtualisation platforms including VMWare, Qemu, and VirtualBox. Our Zenoss is also available on Amazon Web Services/Marketplace.
Upgrading
Upgrading your RPM/Linux Zenoss is easy:
$ yum update
BastionLinux 19
Zenoss 4.2.5 is also available on BastionLinux 19, our latest OS release, which is compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 (RHEL7) - still in beta. Major feature changes for Zenoss include Python 2.7, RabbitMQ 3.1.5, OpenJDK 1.7, and Jetty 9. BastionLinux 19 also has the latest Docker/Linux container technologies.
We will also be targeting Zenoss 5.x for this platform.
If platform stability for your critical Zenoss infrastructure is a concern for you in the coming months, please do contact us for an obligation-free discussion of all of the options available to you.
